AC500 is a new five-seat and single engine general aviation aircraft with its own intellectual property, developed by Nanjing Light Aircraft Incorporated Company. Right now, it has two prototypes. One is a business, another is a trainer with a dual control system in option.
AC500 stands for the name "AIRCAR" and accommodates 5-6 seats in the aircraft. Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) accepted its application of Type Certification in September, 1998 and set up the Airworthiness Investigation Administration and Special Group in charge of quality supervision, control and investigation during whole development process. On 19 Jan 2007,the AC500 aircraft had the TC(Type Certification) from CAAC, meantime ,two patents on exterior configuration and a practical new brand of aircraft.
AC500 has a common light alloy airframe with a conventional aerodynamic configuration, a low rectangular wing with two fuel tanks in each. Tail-plane has a rectangular horizontal stabilizer, a sweep back vertical stabilizer and nonretractable tricycle type landing gear with single wheel on each unit. Single piston engine drives a three-blade metal propeller with spinner. A wide range of avionics is available to the customer including the most up to dated communication and navigation system. Low pressure tires are equipped, it can take-off and landing on hard soil paved runway. Enclosed cabin seating 5 people in 3 rows, 2-1-2 as standard, there is a small table located between the last two rows. Notebook computers, items for business negotiation, etc. can be put on it. The baggage cabin is located behind the rear seat. All the seats are quick removable for ease of business adaptation such as cargo transportation or medical care and so on.
AC500 can be widely serviced to civilian and government operators, enterprise,families, business, cargo transportation, pilot training, tourism, geographical surveying and resources exploration, environmental monitoring, scientific experiment, emer-gency rescue, smuggling surveillance, remote sensing measurement, ambulance, post and parcels express, forest fire detection, agricultural, sport, aerial photography and so on.
